Resort Pools Built for
a Premier Guest Experience

Hayman Island in Queensland's Whitsundays provided the setting for one of Cascade Pools' major commercial projects — two new concrete swimming pools as part of the resort's Lagoon wing facilities.

Commercial resort pools have very different requirements from a typical residential pool. They must accommodate higher usage levels while fitting within the architecture, guest experience and operational requirements of the resort. Concrete construction allowed the pools to incorporate custom features appropriate for the resort setting.

Beach entry and infinity edge

The Hayman Island pool facilities include beach-entry and infinity-edge elements. Beach-entry pool design allows swimmers to enter the water gradually rather than relying solely on conventional pool steps or ladders. Infinity edges create a visual transition between the swimming pool and the surrounding landscape, making them particularly effective in resort environments where views form an important part of the guest experience.

Designed for different guests

The pool facilities were created with different types of resort guests in mind — incorporating child-friendly features, scuba opportunities and accessibility considerations, allowing the aquatic area to support a broader range of activities and users.

Constructing swimming pools within an island resort environment requires careful project planning and coordination. Materials, equipment, trades and construction processes all need to work around the operational and logistical requirements of the site.
